Exam Success for Robin!

Bristol Piano Club member Robin Murfin has recently passed the London College of Music practical piano examination at Associate level. This is equivalent to a RQF level 5. Wow! – many congratulations Robin, from all of us in the Club!

Robin’s exam recital lasted 30 minutes and consisted of:

JS Bach	Prelude and Fugue in E flat major, Bk 2
Chopin	Polonaise in C# minor, op. 26 no. 2
Krenek	Little Suite
Gershwin	Liza & I’ll Build a Stairway to Paradise (from the Gershwin Songbook)
Gershwin/ Grainger	Love Walked In
Margaret Bonds	Troubled Water (from Spiritual Suite No. 3)

The rest of the exam included sight-reading and a viva. Robin took the exam in the heat wave and still managed to get 94%!

As part of his preparation he took Piano Club masterclasses with Helen Reid and Nurrie Lee, both of which were very useful.

Now he is preparing for the Licentiate – we wish him well with the hard work and look forward to hearing more of his pieces at future masterclasses.
