The Club AGM and October meeting were held on the afternoon of Sunday 18th at Trinity United Reform Church hall on Waterford Road. Around twenty five of us met to hear reports from the Committee on the year’s activities – meetings, masterclasses, workshops and concerts, and to learn about our plans for 2027. Meeting hosts were thanked for the huge amount of work they put in to make our meetings take place. Special thanks were given to Graham and Margaret, Cheryl and Bryan, and Jan and Jonathan.
Regarding masterclasses, it is likely that we will offer two next year, with Nurrie Lee and Helen Reid. The workshops will continue on a bi-monthly basis and we will put on concerts at the St Monica’s retirement homes at The Chocolate Factory and Cote Lane.
Mark is standing down as treasurer. The committee recommended Brian replace him. This was accepted unanimously. We are very grateful to Mark for his work over the past two and a half years and to Brian for agreeing to take on the role.
The website continues to offer a window on our Club and its activities and to attract new members. We will retain this and our membership of the Making Music organisation.
Costs are rising and we will have to hire at least two external venues next year so it was accepted that membership fees will rise to £30 for 2027.
Finally we got around the the important business of the day and began the music….
